 In
May 1997, an outdoor enthusiast by the name of Zhang
Heng, took a 3-month budget trip to the wild West
of China. While on my travels I met many backpackers
from other parts of the world. We talked about the
outdoors and equipment, which were quite fresh topics
in China at that time. The travel and the conversations
gave me the idea to open an outdoor equipment store.
In March 1998, I opened a 30-square-meter store at
the east gate of Beijing University, with the name
Sanfo Outdoor Equipments Store. We sold very poor
quality outdoor products, actually the whole industry
is very poor at the time but the timing was right
and the market began to grow.
Now 10 years later, Sanfo has grown into a renowned
supplier of specialty outdoor equipment and clothing.
Till August 2007, we serve the needs of outdoor people
through 11 self-run retail stores in Beijing &Shanghai&Wenzhou,
several stores in other cities, and by direct sales
via the Internet (www.sanfo.com), telephone and mail.
Today, Sanfo is considered to be the most influential
outdoor equipment retailer in China with an outdoor
club that has introduced thousands of people to the
outdoors.
Things are still on the go, more Sanfo stores will
be opened in the coming years, and more high-end brands
will be introduced to outdoor people all over China.
But one thing never changes: we, the employees of
Sanfo are knowledgeable outdoor enthusiasts ready
to help our customers with all their outdoor needs.

·May,

equipment store.
·Sep.1997. The first Sanfo store, 30-square-meter,
opened at the east gate of Peking Univ.
·Oct. 1998. Sanfo organized its first outing activity,
camping in the Simatai Great Wall.
·May, 1999. Sanfo website www.sanfo.com opened.
·July, 1999. Sanfo Outdoor Club registered..
·Aug. 1999. The store moved to West gate of Peking
Univ. 50-square-meter.
·March 2001. Beijing West Madian store opened, 140-square-meter.
·April, 2002. Beijing Guomao store opened, 100-square-meter.
·March, 2003. Beijing East Madian store opened, 260-square-meter.
·April, 2004. Beijing West Madian store enlarged to
450-square-meter.
·2004. Franchising Stores in Ningbo, Changchun, Baotou,
Langfang, Huhhot, etc, opened.
·March, 2005. Sanfo Shanghai store opened, 850-square-meter.
·April, 2006. Beijing Chaoyang Park store opened,
400-square-meter.
·Aug. 2006. Beijing East Madian store enlarged to
450-square-meter.
·Jan, 2007. Shanghai JinQiao store opened, 160-square-meter.
·Jun, 2007. Wenzhou store opened, 140-square-meter.
·Aug, 2007. Beijing Yuetan store opened, 500-square-meter
·Sept, 2007. Beijing Olympic village store opened,
500-square-meter.
·Oct, 2007. Shang Wujiaochang store opened, 460-square-meter. |
